What is a Bipolar Disorder? Formerly known as Manic Depression, Bipolar is a manic situation like two poles one of them is high and other on is relatively low. A "Bipolar Disorder" person is in a state of depression that sometimes they think they are king of the world or so much as a Beggar.
It is thought distortions which lead their moods and these mood swing is common in them. Suddenly they feel high and suddenly they feel sad, anxious or depressed.In severe case they may lie down on bed covering themselves or stare at the wall or ceiling.
In certain culture it is acceptable such as Bangladesh or other third world countries. In western civilizations it is a curable disease if not changed in to something else. Longest episode could be a year and over if taken prescribed medications, plenty of rest, mixed with good behavior, positive influence i.e Cognitive therapy. After taking the medications they may feel drouzy, sleepy, or become over weighed. Their blood pressure may be low and certain medication like Lithium may cause dryness in cells, or creatinin level may change over the time.
There are theories that Bipolar has" extremely strong genetic component" how ever there is no prevalent proof or lab test that conclude it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. " Some psychiatrists appear to confuse theory with fact". "They may wrongly conclude that their depression result from chemical factors beyond their control."

Whether psychologists or patients decide, cognitive therapy or combinations of both cognative therapy or medication is needed to treat such condition. "The combination of medications with psychotherapy seems to produce better results in both short term and long term than drug alone."
People who are " not not in touch of reality" , "Having hellucinations, or " hearing voices" need medication to control them.
